COVID-19 Update

COVID-19 Update

Saturday, I came to work thinking we could cut numbers, sanitize even more thoroughly and be incredibly aware and careful. Today my thoughts are otherwise. It is with great trepidation that I’ve made the decision to pause studio classes. I feel it is my responsibility to take the greatest possible care of this community and the thought of being part of the continued spreading of covid -19 is something I am unwilling to do. Social distancing is the one true way we have the opportunity to make a difference. We all have loved ones that this illness could effect. Personally, my eldest daughter is a two-time cancer survivor and has undergone a stem cell transplant and my elderly mom with Alzheimer’s and high blood pressure lives with/is in my care. But, beyond my own thoughts and desires to keep my family safe and healthy, is this community. Beyond that is the welfare of this county, state, country, humanity. We can come together in a really beautiful way here…in a bigger way than I have ever witnessed. I choose to trust in God/Universe that we will all be taken care of and the greater good seen through this.

That being said, I have amazing teachers that I want to continue to support, bills that are not ceasing with this decision and a community that I will provide yoga for just in a different forum for a brief time. I am currently working towards an online format in order to keep everyone practicing and teachers working. My goal is to hold online classes at the same time as our normal schedule for all monthly members. We are trialing our first class and hope to be up and running fully with the regular schedule this week. Members will be receiving an email with directions on how to access classes soon.

Please join me in uplifting those making hard decisions that affect many. Please pray for those that are in the front lines of this – healthcare providers, public servants, those that work at grocery stores and gas stations, those that can’t choose to move to an online format. Please pray for small businesses and gyms and yoga studios and retail stores. Please choose LOVE, positivity, kindness and to look for the silver lining in all that is our current situation. We DO have a choice in how we react. We DO have a choice – the things we say and share (both verbally and via social media). I am choosing more love and kindness right now and to take this time to appreciate and be grateful for all that is good; there is so much. I hope you’ll join me.

Thank you all for your constant support.

Betsy McKinney

Betsy first came to yoga in 2015 as a college freshman seeking escape from the recent uproot in her life. What she found instead was an intimate and newfound connection to her mind, body, and spirit. In 2017 she received her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Certification through Austin’s Black Swan Yoga in the study of Hatha Vinyasa Yoga, Meditation, Anatomy, and History and Philosophy of Yoga. She is also a registered yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance.
Betsy offers an authentic, fluid, and organic practice with detailed alignment cues, breath-initiated movement, and purposeful sequencing. She hopes that students leave feeling grounded, at ease, and empowered to stand in their Truth.
When Betsy is not teaching or practicing yoga, she is co-running a crystal shop alongside her partner, which sells personally hand-sourced crystals from their adventures in nature. <—— If you see her in class, make sure you make her feel allll the love and give her a warm welcome into our little yogi abode.

Shea Carver

Born and raised in DFW, Shea found yoga at 19 as a way to cope with anxiety and insomnia. Over the next ten years her practice evolved from sporadic to daily, and in 2016 she completed a yoga teacher training at YoYo Yogi in Portland, Oregon. Shea spent the next three years teaching weekly classes at YoYo. During that time she was afforded the opportunity to teach professional sports teams, beginners workshops, events, and, eventually, landed a spot on the faculty of their renowned Yoga Teacher Training program. She is an E-RYT and YACEP with Yoga Alliance. When not teaching, you can find her somewhere outside with her husband and four year old son, or at school where she’s studying Kinesiology

Rich Ware

Richard Ware an ex Army Airborne Ranger, is a RYT200 working on his 500RYT with Yoga 4 Love. His style of teaching is witty and strong. His classes focus on the stretch and alignment in a non-competitive environment. He also enjoys teaching Acro + Partner Yoga, Tree Yoga and Thai Bodywork. Richard has been practicing yoga for 9 years with his wife, Lisa.

In 2011, he became a Yoga Teacher. By deepening his personal practice on the mat he developed a growing desire to share the benefits of his transformation with others through teaching yoga. He loves to enrich others lives sharing the physical changes he has seen in his own body, and more significantly, the mind, body, spirit connection of a healthy and strong yoga practice. Come to one of Rich’s classes, you will find yourself immersed in breath and flow, while gaining core strength and mastering inversions.

Richard is the owner of The Fish Physician, aquarium maintenance, design and installation, founded in 1996. For fun you will find him on his yoga mat, practicing hot yoga, enjoying his quiet time on their land, and doing outdoor projects with bees, their dogs, cats, horses and especially his chickens.
